Modern Living at Wooster and Mercer Lofts

Wooster and Mercer | Market Pulse | May 2020

The Wooster and Mercer Lofts have been one of region’s most popular condominium communities since their completion in 2007. Developed by Abdo and designed by Cunningham Quill Architects, the handsome brick complex with its retro industrial vibe stretches for two blocks along trendy Clarendon Boulevard, and down the side streets of N. Pierce and N. Queen. Among the many architectural touches are repurposed 140 year-old bricks from the old Children’s Museum in DC, now used as interior accents. The appeal of the condos also has an effect on availability, as new listings can be few and far between.

There were no new listings in May, and there are also no active listings as of this writing. Unit #W204 is currently pending, having received an accepted offer after just four days on market. The residence in the Wooster complex has two bedrooms, two bathrooms and 1,270 square feet of living space. The asking price was $877,000. Hardwood floors run throughout, with massive factory-style windows and a chef’s style kitchen with Sub-Zero and Wolfe stainless steel appliances. The limestone bathrooms feature Waterworks fixtures.

Unit #M604 went under contract on May 9 and closed later the same month for $850,000. The 1,194 square foot loft residence initially had one bedroom, but the owner later constructed a second. Gleaming hardwood floors run throughout the unit, with floating iron spiral stairs leading to a large private deck. Soaring 22-foot ceilings and two stories of massive windows add to the allure. The open gourmet kitchen features a Wolfe 6-burner range, a stainless steel glass door fridge and built-in double wine coolers. Exposed ductwork snakes throughout the residence, with antique brick accents in multiple places. The bathroom has a twin sink granite vanity plus a large frameless shower.

The only other closing since the start of the year has been Unit #208. The private Life At The Top listing was offered at $1 million and closed at $1,007,500. The handsome corner apartment has two bedrooms, two baths and 1,703 square feet of living space. Among the many features is a Chef’s kitchen set into a single wall, with Viking and Sub-Zero appliances, black granite counters and hanging pendant lights. The large master bedroom suite has a honed marble bathroom with twin sink vanity. The second bedroom has direct access to the full hallway bath with marble vanity and tile floor. Parking is included.

The Wooster and Mercer Lofts community is located in Rosslyn but is also quite close to the next-door Courthouse neighborhood. It is ideally positioned along the trendy Rosslyn-Ballston Corridor with its five popular urban villages: Rosslyn, Courthouse, Clarendon, Virginia Square and Ballston. Each neighborhood has its own Metrorail station. Residents at the Wooster Mercer are able to stroll to a wealth of area attractions. They also enjoy condominium amenities such as a swimming pool, front desks and concierge, club room, fitness center, courtyards and a dog park.
